Following recent changes to the law on rights of detained persons solicitors are now permitted to sit in on Garda interviews. This is a new departure from the previous regime where a detainee could only avail of legal advice before the recoded interview began. Already solicitors here in the firm have attended Garda Stations to assists clients who have been arrested. Interestingly the reason for arrest in all cases have been on suspicion of what is known as white collar crime which is on the increase.
